Changes
So Eugene moved out on Saturday. Helping him move and a hard drive failure on my computer kept me from blogging in a while. To console myself over the loss of an incredible entertainment system (and a pretty decent roommate), I went out and bought a big screen TV. I was looking forward to it's scheduled delivery today until Eugene talked me into buying his TV. Which was already moved to his new place but wouldn't fit into his basement. So now I'm awaiting the homecoming of my new (but old in a way) TV. Eugene's soon to be former TV is an inch smaller than the one I bought/returned but it has a much better picture. One problem with buying Eugene's TV is that in one sense, it's not really a new toy for me. Not that I watched it all that much while it was here, but it was here for well over a year. Sort of takes all the fun out of buying a new toy. I did however buy some matching new toys: a Sony HD-300 HD DirecTV Receiver and a Samsung DirecTV Tivo Receiver. I've used Eugene's Tivo in the past but only to watch stuff he had recorded. Now that I'm in control, I can already see how this will begin to change my life. I'll no longer miss This Week with George Stephanopolous (sp?) and This Week on Sunday mornings when I go to the gym. I've got the Tivo hooked up to one satellite input now but once I add a second, I'll be able to record two shows at once. West Wing and Angel being scheduled at the same time will no longer be a problem!
I also orded an Arcam DV78 DVD Player which should arrive within a week. Now I just have to go buy the Special Extended Version of Two Towers and I'll be all set. I need to complete my home theatre system with surround sound but it will be a while before I can afford it after this spending spree. As is, I'll be sitting on the floor watching TV--since I don't have any money left to buy furniture...
Just noticed that I received my first comment from a reader! Now there's that much more pressure to blog on a more frequent basis.
