Healthcare and Pension Benefits

Malcolm Galdwell's new article in the New Yorker, "The Risk Pool", makes a case for universal health care and pension benefits. The implications for companies such as GM are enormous so one has to wonder why they haven't supported universal healthcare and pension benefits. I wonder if most Americans realize we all pay for it through higher product prices and taxes anyway. Might as well make it official.
