10 Years Later
It's hard to believe but it's been 10 years since I graduated from the University of Michigan Business School (now known as the Ross School of Business). I flew back to Ann Arbor a couple of weekends ago for the reunion celebration. I've kept in touch with a number of classmates over the years but i was really looking forward to catching up with those that I haven't seen since graduation. It was a weekend of catching up with old friends and hitting some of my favorite dining spots.
I arrived early Friday morning after taking the redeye out of Seattle where I met up with Barry at the airport. We couldn't get early check in at the hotel so we hit Angelo's for breakfast. Afterwards, we crashed at Vic's hotel to catch up on some sleep. We then hit Zingerman's (maybe the best deli in America) for a late lunch where we ran into a few classmates. After lunch we headed towards the business school to discover that all that's left is a big hole in the ground. Friday night was the official dinner party and there were different locations for each class. Saturday morning was the football tailgate at the football team's indoor practice field--where my flag football team won the intramural championship my first year! Michigan played Northwestern in the big house but we only lasted the first half as the weather was cold, windy and rainy. After watching the second half of the game at a bar, a few of us hit Dinersty for a late lunch. Dinersty is a hole in the wall Chinese restaurant in Ann Arbor that serves the best hot and sour soup and General Tsao's Chicken that I've ever eaten. The final restaurant I'll mention is Gratzi, where a group of us went to dinner on Saturday night. It's one of those restaurants that I couldn't afford as a poor graduate student.
As I was driving out of Ann Arbor on Sunday towards the airport, it hit me once again that my two years in Ann Arbor were the best two years of my life. I met some wonderful people and learned a lot and the overall experience was amazing.
