Windy

Seattle experienced it's strongest windstorm since 1993. More than a million electric customers lost power due to the storm. The number is a little confusing since I think some utilities are just counting customer (accounts) and some have made estimates on the number of people affected (number of people living in a household/account). Either way, it's a lot of people. I was one of them for 23.5 hours. My power went out at 1:00am Thursday night--I know the time because my cell phone beeped. My power came back on Friday night at 12:30AM--I had left my bedroom light switch on because I wanted to know when it came back on.

A couple of hours before the winds picked up Thursday night, we experienced some really heavy rain--the likes of which I've never experienced. I went out on my deck for less than 20 seconds and was totally drenched when I came back into the house. As I drove towards the gym, I saw rivers flowing down the street and crossed a pool of water about 50 yards long that was about 18 inches deep. Keep in mind that this was no where near a river of the ocean. I'm sad to say that about the time I was driving through that pool, a woman drowned in her basement after it flooded--within blocks of of me. Seattle PI photos and Seattle Times photos of the damage.

As of 11:00PM Saturday evening the gym is still without power.
